Of the seven blocks I brought to shape on Monday, this was the only one that refused the original design due to hidden flaws—which is how most of my bamboo pipes begin their life. This one carries Ivorite nodes that complement the simple color palette, and the black bamboo shank gives the whole piece a clean, understated presence.
It’s going to age beautifully. The color will deepen with use, and the overall patina will settle in exactly the way a pipe like this should—slowly, naturally, full of character.
